Sacred Geometry Workshop for Artists in Medford Oregon - 12April2008 9AM-1PM
Fascinated by the mystical aesthetic appeal of Renaissance artists like DaVinci? Numerous artists since antiquity intentionally used techniques now referred to as sacred geometry in their masterpieces. You can too! Discover the secret behind the appeal their art holds to this day.

This
Hands-on Artist's Workshop will show classic sacred geometry constructions and theory for visual artists - The class will supply all the background needed to incorporate the principles of "interconnectedness" and proportions that represent our cosmic relatedness for any artist with no math background required. Bring a compass and straight-edge to replicate the universal patterns and ratios with the "classic" constructions used by Plato, Pythagoras, Da Vinci, and numerous other ancient, Renaissance and contemporary artists from a variety of media and disciplines.

Projects will include: 2D constructions (Vesica Piscis, Seed of Life,
Flower of Life, Golden Rectangles, Golden Triangles, Squaring the Circle, inscribed pentagrams, mandalas, tilings, etc.) as well as 3D polyhedra foldups and working in various 2D and 3D media.

Contact
Central Art Supply at 541-773-1444 or Bruce Rawles for details and enrollment. Cost is $20 and includes handout material needed to replicate the workshops projects and references. Autographed, personalized copies of Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook will be available for puchase as well.

Here is a printable poster about the workshop.

Sara Frucht Art Opening at the Coffee Mill in Oakland Calif. 22Mar2008
Anyone who has attended my multimedia presentations during the past 4 years has probably seen some of the exquisite "virtual polyhedra" art of Sara Frucht - Kaliedoscapes as she aptly calls them. Here is a slightly truncated tetrahedron of mirrors that creates a virtual icosahedron in the corner...

KaleidoscapeIcosa
... and the same amazing model with a little rubber ball rolled in, creating a "virtual dodecahedron" by connecting the midpoints of the reflected spheres:
KaleidoscapeDodeca
... and digital fly-through animation she created for a proposed Berkeley Community Garden project.

Her artistic abilities are evidently also at home in "conventional media" as well. Here's the announcement she just sent about her art opening in Oakland, California on March 22, 2008:

===========

Hi Everyone -

Please come to my art opening and reception.  Here is the info:

(about one block from the Grand lake Theatre)

Featuring the music of fabulous rock and jazz guitarist Toku Woo

I currently have twelve of my acrylic paintings on display.  They were all done this past  fall and winter.  Also showing - paintings by Peter, artist of the Lake.   (He also painted all the murals on the  walls inside the cafe.)

In case you can't make it to the opening, these paintings will be on display at the Coffee Mill until Saturday, May 3.

I hope to see you there!

Tempest At Oregon Shakespeare Festival
Last night, my sister, her family (sans niece finishing up a summer physics internship in Australia researching gravity waves), and I attended a stellar performance of The Tempest at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival... (thanks, Gayle!) I was not only inspired by the excellent performances, great costumes and staging, I particularly appreciated the deeper meaning of the play, which revolved around forgiveness... so synchronistic, as I'm completing the first reading of Gary Renard's book, Your Immortal Reality, which is completely about the same crucial element in our awakening – realizing there is ultimately nothing in our eternal nature to forgive.

Here's a quote from the Tempest from Renard's book (page 140)I had just read a few days (synchronistically):

"Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and
Are melted into air, into thin air
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made of, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep."

Kinda puts our fleeting and ephemeral issues into perspective Happy

My sister has a lovely collection of antique and reproduction prints of Shakespeare, such as this one:

Women In Art animation
Thanks to Charley and Dan for this amazing sequence of world class "Women In Art". Now I want to visit all the galleries to see all the originals; lovely artistry morphing individual masterpieces to create another integrated masterpiece with a vivid sense of the divine feminine archetype ... a perfect example of the eternal hologram being greater than the sum of its (temporally sliced) parts!

Dan Shaw - Silkscreens from SGDS
Thanks to long time friend and colleague Dan Shaw for posting a photo of some of his silkscreen artistry, inspired in part from images from my Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook. In addition to making a nice rendition from the "Pentagram Dodecahedron Fractal" on page 154, he also created a lovely Escher-esque vertical banner from the "Fishscale Grid" sequence on pages 53, 54, and 62. Can't wait to see the t-shirts! Happy

Amoraea's Visionary Art
Our Hedronist group had the pleasure of meeting visionary artist Amoraea Dreamseed yesterday afternoon at our impromptu open air meeting in front of the Ashland Food Coop. He showed us a large canvas giclée print (among others) of his recent creation: The Sacred Covenant, which has some lovely geometry (including a Sri Yantra tiled column) and imagery.

Press Release – For Immediate Release
Accurate Geometric Models of Solar System - Art at Mobius Gallery in April & First Friday

Where:
The Mobius, 281 4th Street, Ashland, Oregon 97520

When: Exhibit open now through April 30; First Friday artist reception 5-9PM 6 April 2007

What: 12 giclée prints of "The Martineau Series", digital art inspired by breakthrough discoveries about our solar system and how the orbits of the planets relate to simple geometric models.

Who: artist and geometer Bruce Rawles

As part of the
First Friday art series, the Mobius is currently exhibiting (through the end of April) the artwork of local digital artist and author, Bruce Rawles. Inspired by line art in a book by fellow UK author & geometer, John Martineau, Rawles' 3D computer rendered images incorporate NASA imagery as well as nature photography as backdrops to stunningly accurate (most 99.9% or better) models of our solar system that pick up where Johannes Kepler's explorations left off. Framed archival giclée prints as well as larger posters, card and books will also be available at the First Friday event at the Mobius.

More information about Rawles' "Martineau Series" is available here.

This award-winning exhibit was recently shown at ScienceWorks in Ashland, as well as the Rogue Gallery, and has also appeared at galleries in California, Switzerland and Austria. More information about Rawles' "Martineau Series" exhibits and other presentations, etc. is
available here.

Rawles is also the author of Sacred Geometry Design SourceBook, published in English and German as well as co-author of a geometric screensaver and meditation tool based on ancient laws of nature
He maintains a
blog about a variety of related interests.
